August 5, 2017 August 5, 2017 admin Academy of Model Aeronautics – War Bird Fly-in – 10 & 11 June 2017 – Ash Creek The Academy of Model Aeronautics is conducting a Fly-in of war birds at Ash Creek R/C Park, Anderson over 10 & 11 June. You will witness some of the fastest model aircraft and the best pilots around in this very exciting event. Squadron cadets will be posting the colors and manning a Squadron recruitment booth there. May 10, 2017 admin July 29 through Aug 6 – NVWG Encampment – Reno/Stead This is at Reno/Stead Airport. It is a week long “boot” camp for Civil Air Patrol Cadets. March 31, 2017 April 8, 2017 admin July 20, 21, 22 – Sentry Eagle The Klamath Falls Squadron has invited Sqn 126 to Sentry Eagle 2017. It is the community appreciation open house for Kingsley Air Base after a week of ANG fighter scenarios. The squadron attended two years ago. It is a bivouac and open house assistance event. March 31, 2017 April 8, 2017 admin June 18 – Fathers Day Fly in Benton This is a day of aviation activities at Benton Airport, off Placer Street. Squadron members assist the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) in the setup and breakdown of mainly crowd control barriers and tables and chairs. We also run a recruiting and information booth for our Squadron. This is a great opportunity for Squadron members to both assist in a community event, provide a visible presence and recruit new members. March 31, 2017 April 8, 2017 admin June 13-20 – CAWG Encampment – Camp San Luis Obispo The purpose of the cadet encampment is for cadets to develop leadership skills, investigate the aerospace sciences and related careers, commit to a habit of regular exercise, and solidify their moral character. While the dates of Encampment for most cadets are June 13-20, pre-Encampment will start on 10 June for Cadre and selected Senior Staff. We understand that there are some school districts in California that don’t end instruction/finals until after 10 June. We apologize – these were the only dates we were able to reserve the facilities we need for the encampment. As other wings determine their encampment dates, we will publish them for those cadets who need encampment but who are not able to attend the California Wing Encampment. With parental intervention, some students may be able to speed up their end-of-term testing and leave school a few days early – we encourage that as an option as well. We may be able to work with Cadet Cadre who are unable to attend all of Pre-Encampment but who can be there for the entire encampment itself.
